The UN's International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People spawns events around the globe. As UN information notes routinely read: "The United Nations information centres and services worldwide are available to assist Governments, NGOs and others wishing to organize special activities in connection with the Day by providing information and documentation."

The annual event marks the anniversary of November 29, 1947, the day the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution which partitioned Palestine into a Jewish and an Arab state - a resolution accepted by Jews and rejected across the Arab world.

The activities of the day always ignore the rejection of the state of Israel from its birth, successive conflicts launched by Israel's neighbors to destroy the Jewish state, and daily evidence of continuing repudiation of co-existence with Israel by Arab and Muslim states.

Instead, the central purpose of the UN day of solidarity is to support the UN-Arab narrative that the root cause of the Arab-Israeli conflict is the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land. Hence, fault for the absence of peace between Israel and most Arab states lies first and foremost with Israel. Responsibility to solve the multiplicity of Palestinian problems also lies first with Israel. Concomitantly, Israeli acts of self-defense are inverted to become further examples of Palestinian victimization.

Former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan summarized the UN-driven story that the anniversary of November 29, 1947 - a day celebrated by the victims of the Nazis and the Jewish people in their ancient homeland and around the world - is really "a day of mourning and a day of grief."

Every year the message of Palestinian victims at the hands of Israeli perpetrators is unabashedly combined with clear statements of 1947-plus years of occupation (not 1967 on) uncontrovertible evidence of the continued rejection of a Jewish state, and overt antisemitism.

The day's events, produced by the UN in New York, Geneva and elsewhere, in turn spawn contributions to UN-produced monthly reviews, compilations, bulletins and information notes.
