Note
A demagogue tries to hang on...The Syrian President claims the Lebanese are ungrateful for Syrian largess (after decades of Syrian occupation). The Hariri investigation is unfair because Arafat was poisoned and nobody cared. The UN (which Syria happily embraced during yesterday's Israel-bashing exercises) is now the enemy, which will find that Syria did not cooperate regardless of the facts. "International legitimacy" is now secondary to "national commitments" – read keeping the President in power. And by the way, he "is one of the many links in a chain that will affect the Arab states" – so fellow demagogues, rally round.
